Alabama Power has been providing electricity to much of the southeastern region of the United States since the early 1900s. In the present day, they are a powerhouse in the industry with a workforce to match. Their bustling hub is located in downtown Birmingham, Alabama in a historical building. This hub houses all of the various departments, partners, specialized teams and groups needed to make it all happen.

Alabama Power continues to modernize and keep up with the times in power standards, they also are modernizing their offices - that is where Campbell Creative comes in.

COLLABORATION SPACE

We partnered with Floor 6 of Alabama Power to create shared spaces on their floor that encourage collaboration and community. One of their wants was to have a central hub to meet whether having one on ones, small group collaborations, conference calls, personal calls, conference meetings, or large group gatherings. With all of that in mind, we created a mixed use space with 10 separate collaboration areas. However, the area is open enough to have one big meeting in the space. With such high demands of the space, every inch of the collaboration space is functional. Custom furniture, lighting solutions and wall treatments all act as acoustical solutions for noise control. Bright, cheery colors help divide up the space into sections. Private phonebooths line some of the walls for personal calls and meetings.

The end result is a vibrant, energetic space that welcomes staff to a freshened up Alabama Power.

ENVIRONMENTAL BRANDING

We started the collaboration area on Floor 6 with a large room, sectioned off with cubicles, a bit grey and devoid of color and natural light. With environmental branding in mind, we thought of the space as a blank canvas. First, we wanted as much natural light as possible, so we took down any cubicles or walls in the space. To help break up the now large room and make it feel intimate but open, we divided the space up into smaller collaboration areas. Each collaboration area utilizes color, furniture and branding elements to make them feel intentional. This creates mulitple spaces for gatherings and aesthetically pleasing landscape to one large room.

Every detail matters.
Every detail is a chance to layer in some brand personality.

SNACK BAR

A space designed to keep the flow of your day going.

The Amp snack bar is a perfect example of making the best of your space. Previously, this space was an unused storage closet. We literally broke down the walls and opened up the space. Since this space is in the interior part of the building we wanted to let as much natural light as possible. The design utilizes white walls to allow available light to shine. Layered on top of the white walls a continuous mural lines the walls to create a sense of flow and energize the space. Ash wooden signs with white graphics provide a warm yet clean feel. Custom furniture creates a cafe/homey kitchen vibe to encourage relaxation and comfort. Accents of greenery pop throughout the space for alittle extra color and mental wellness.

A breakroom with a buzz

A space to feel inspired, the Jolt Coffee Bar Breakroom was design to have everything you need for that boost during the day.

Custom orange and black graphics energize the space, giving employees a mental break from work and their screens. While custom furniture, light fixtures and wall to ceiling coverings dampen noise creating an intimate experience. The combination of the two composing the perfect environment for a coffee break.

Pull up a seat and stay awhile…

Making a space into a destination is all about the details. From the colors, to the furniture finishes, to the coffee cup in your hand, we think through how all of elements add up to make a space that feels unique.

As coffee lovers, we could not get enough of our Alabama Brewed coffee branding for this space - you can’t have too much caffeine in a place called Jolt!

alabama power: floor 15

Floor 15 houses the marketing department at Alabama Power, so when they wanted to rebrand their space they wanted it to feel relevant to their work. The theme of their spaces is based on big companies that didn’t make it, resulting in a fun and nostalgic workspace.

environmental branding

Drawing inspiration failed companies, we felt the design of Floor 15 needed to have BOLD accents much like the choices of these past companies. Big bold lettering, graphic wall papers and inspirational quotes fill the space. The result is a workplace that is fun and playful but also provokes thought.

Of course, as we look to the past there is naturally a good bit of nostalgia, so it only felt fitting to feature that in the design. We particularly love the outdated devices wallpaper and the ipod wallpaper (each ipod populated with an employees favorite song).

Snack attack breakroom

To extend the nostalgia aspect on the rest of the floor, we created a breakroom theme based on childhood snacks. A wallpaper of all the things your mom said you couldn’t have was a (tasty) delight to create at our office!
